Solitary waves in materials exhibiting second-harmonic generation and photorefractive nonlinearity

Abstract

The properties of solitary waves in materials exhibiting both second-order and photorefractive nonlinearities are presented. A transverse modulation instability analysis is described and soliton solutions are presented for which a switching device application is proposed.
