Abstract

Experimental characterisation of the optical Kerr coefficient in an AlGaAs planar waveguide was done. The method is based on a modified version of the eclipsing Z-scan. The transmission is measured through a mask while varying the input intensity and is compared with numerical simulations in order to obtain the nonlinear index n2.
