Modulationally stable propagation in periodic quadratically nonlinear slab waveguides

Abstract

We investigate modulational stability in slab waveguides with periodic, quadratic nonlinearity. An averaged theory predicts a region of stability, but exact, Floquet calculations, confirmed by numerical propagation, allow stability only according to an experimental definition.
