Effects of polarization-mode dispersion on dual-pump fiber-optic parametric amplifiers

Abstract

We study the impact of residual random birefringence along the fiber length and the resulting polarization-mode dispersion and show that they limit the performance of dual-pump parametric amplifiers even when two pumps are chosen to be orthogonally polarized initially.
