Abstract
Waves with the same frequency counterpropagating in a Kerr-nonlinear fiber (the so-called degenerated four-wave mixing) for the spatially stable eigenarrangement [1] can exhibit temporal instability if the nonlinearity has a finite relaxation time [2]. Here we demonstrate that another fundamental physical parameter, linear dispersion, in combination with third-order nonlinearity can result in temporal instability.
