Abstract

Pattern formations and spatio-temporal complexity are currently a focus of considerable interest in the area of nonlinear dynamics. In optics these phenomena may arise from the competition between local nonlinearity and diffraction and/or dissipation of the system. In this report we provide first observations of rich spatial and spatio-temporal phenomena in stimulated Brillouin scattering generated in c.w pumped multi mode optical fibre.
