Abstract

Recently, the waveguide ring lasers made in erbium-doped-fiber technology [1] or in semiconductor integrated optics [2] have attracted attention because of the simplicity of fabrication and the elimination of the need for high quality mirrors. Potential applications of such lasers contain high-speed communication systems as well as optical computing and data processing.
