Abstract

The resonant interaction of pulse-pairs with multi-level atoms has attracted some attention in recent time because of the possibility of a quasi-loss-free propagation in otherwize optically thick media. The pulse-pair propagation in Λ-type atoms as shown in Figs. 1 is here discussed in terms of the adiabatic coupled and decoupled superpositions of the lower levels.
