Abstract

In search for intrinsic optical bistability in solid-state optical materials, we studied cooperative absorption and emission in Yb3AI5O12, Yb2O3, Yb:Y2O3, Yb:Lu2O3, and Yb:Sc2O3 laser related crystals. The bistability in cooperative luminescence in Yb(6%):ScO3 has been observed.
