Polarisation Stability of Kerr Optical Solitons: A Comparison of Birefringent Fibre and Semiconductor Waveguide

Abstract

Coupled Nonlinear Schrodinger Equations are developed to describe dualpolarisation solitons in birefringent optical fibres and semiconductor slab waveguides. A linear stability analysis provides analytic results for stability thresholds and the stationary soliton solutions.
