Third-order hyper-Rayleigh scattering in azobenzene dye solutions

Abstract

We report the observation of third-order hyper-Rayleigh scattering in azobenzene dye Disperse Red 1 solutions. The third-order polarizability (1.8 10−32 esu) of the dye under resonance conditions was determined from the measurements.
