Abstract

We have investigated backward quasi-phase-matched second harmonic generation (BQPM-SHG) in semiconductor/dielectric multilayer structures taking account of one-dimensional photonic band effects. We observed considerable enhancement of the BQPM-SHG at the photonic band edge.
