Abstract

High energy few optical cycle pulses can be nowadays generated by the hollow fiber pulse compression technique [1]. This technique allows generating pulses of 5 fs duration with a truncated Bessel spatial profile In this work we will present results on two topics, which are related to the use such pulses, namely: (i) strong field photoionization and the role of the absolute phase; (ii) optimization of the process of high order harmonic generation
