Abstract
In recent years, nonlinear optical materials have attracted great interest because of the wide range of possible applications in the fields of laser technology, telecommunications, data storage, and optical switches. In particular, Q-switching and mode locking with saturable absorbers have been proven very powerful methods for generating ultrashort pulses from different kinds of laser.
