Abstract

As a demonstration of a search for highly nonlinear surfaces, we have measured second harmonic(SH) and sum frequency(SF) intensity from SiO2/rutile TiO2(110) relative to rutile TiO2(110) for the photon energy from 2ℏω, ℏω1+ℏω2=2.95 eV to 4.77 eV. We have found that the SH and SF intensity from SiO2/TiO2(110) is several to 18 times higher than that from TiO2(110) around the photon energy 3.65 eV probably due to a resonance of some electronic level at the SiO2/TiO2(110) interface.
