Spectral Talbot phenomena of periodic frequency combs induced by cross-phase-modulation in optical fibers

Abstract

The problem of cross-phase-modulation of a finite-duration optical pulse sequence (frequency comb) by a long Gaussian pump pulse is theoretically investigated and new effects, namely spectral-domain integer and fractional self-imaging (Talbot) phenomena, are reported.
