Nonlinear Processes in Laser Cooling of Semiconductors

Abstract

The conditions for attaining net laser cooling in semiconductors are theoretically and experimentally investigated. The nonlinear processes of band-filling and many body recombination are essential in determining the lowest attainable temperatures.
