The Role of Phase Matching in Pulsed Second harmonic Generation: Walk-Off and Phase-Locked Twin Pulses in Negative Index Media

Abstract

We present evidence that a phase locking mechanism characterizes harmonic generation under phase mismatched conditions. The SH and TH signals display two peaks, a normal and a phase-locked component that phase-locks to the pump.
