Abstract

An equation is derived analytically for determining steady-state solutions of nonlinear waveguide equation using Gaussian approximation of waveguide mode and perturbation theory. Critical power for nonlinear self-focusing in optical waveguides is found to be independent of waveguide parameters, while steady-state solutions below nonlinear self-focusing limit depend on V value of the optical waveguide.
