Observation of the Relativistic Response of an Electron-Hole Plasma in Graphene on Femtosecond Timescales

Abstract

Visible pump-probe spectroscopy is used to isolate the femtosecond Drude response of a photogenerated electron-hole plasma in a graphene monolayer. The observed sub-linear dependence on carrier density reveals the relativistic nature of the electron-hole plasma.
