Novel Non-Planar Ring Cavity for Enhanced Beam Quality in High-Pulse-Energy Optical Parametric Oscillators

Abstract

A novel non-planar ring cavity using fractional-image-rotation (FIRE) is presented, increasing beam quality compared to RISTRA-type OPO cavities. Mid-IR (3-5 μm) M2 of 1.88 - 1.99 is reached at 20 mJ pulse energy using ZnGeP2.
