Autofocusing of cylindrical caustics self-generated in a defocusing nonlinear medium

Abstract

We describe a simple method for generating an autofocusing, radially-symmetric Airy wave, relying on optical caustics which form in a defocusing, nonlocal thermal nonlinear medium with a cylindrical reflective boundary.
