Evidence for Terahertz Self-Starting Mirrorless Acoustic Phonon Parametric Oscillator with Distributed Feedback

Abstract

Evidence is presented for a 1.0-THz acoustic phonon parametric oscillator produced by acousto-optic phase-conjugate degenerate four-wave mixing in a THz-laser- pumped silicon doping superlattice. Coherent nanosecond-pulsed THz compressional and shear waves with different pumping thresholds were observed.
