Abstract

We compare the performance of two methods to create nonlinear photonic structures for quasi-phase-matched second-harmonic generation. Focused femtosecond- laser pulses are used to deplete the x(2)-nonlinearity on the one hand or to excite pyroelectric field-assisted poling.
