Abstract
Glasses doped with CdSxSe1−x microcrystallites have recently attracted interest because of their large third-order nonlinearities and fast response times.[1] Optical bistability with a fast switching time has already been observed.[2] Optical nonlinear properties of CdSxSe1−x-doped glasses are explained by the band-filling mode[3], which is applied to the nonlinear property of other materials at frequencies around the bandgap. Thus, new glass materials doped with various microcrystallites having different bandgaps are expected to have similar nonlinear properties. However, there are few reports on nonlinear glass materials other than CdSxSe1−x-doped glasses.
