Tunable Thin Film Optics and Metamaterials Based on Vanadium Dioxide

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We exploited the insulator-to-metal phase transition of vanadium dioxide (VO2) to create tunable thin film optical components and metasurfaces in the mid-infrared spectral range. Thermally and electrically tunable modulators and thermal emitters are demonstrated.
