Liquid Crystal-based Refractive Beamsteering in the Infrared

Abstract

A refractive beamsteering device utilizing a variable-index liquid crystal cladding and capable of continuous two-dimensional beam steering in the infrared is described. Optimizing device throughput by minimizing absorption and scattering losses is discussed.
