High refractive index polydimethylsiloxane waveguides for biomedical photonics sensors

Abstract

We report on the development of low-cost waveguides formed by polydimethylsiloxane doped with benzophenone. In contrast to prior reports, the results were obtained without toxic solvents and generated a very high refractive index contrast (+0.5).
