Electro-Optical Properties of Liquid Crystal Cells Enabled by Unconventional Alignment Layers

Abstract

In this paper, unusual electro-optics and possible applications of nematic liquid crystals sandwiched between unconventional alignment layers are discussed. Two types of polymers, namely ferroelectric polymers and weakly conducting polymers are used as alignment layers.
