Funnelling spontaneous emission into waveguides via hyperbolic metamaterials

Abstract

We propose an efficient way to couple spontaneous emission of an electric dipole to an in-plane waveguide by taking advantage of the enhanced lateral mission provided by properly designed hyperbolic metamaterial.
