All-optical inverter with a vertical-cavity semiconductor optical amplifier

Abstract

Experimental and theoretical analysis of an 850 nm-VCSOA all-optical inverter is reported. The performance of the inverter shows low switching power requirements, high extinction ratio and fast speed operation in the order of several Gbits/sec.
