Effect of Random Local Dispersion in Ultra-high Speed Optical Link employing Periodical Dispersion-compensation

Abstract

Effects of randomness of local dispersion in periodically dispersion-compensated fiber links are numerically studied. A modest randomness of dispersion is revealed to provide robustness to the pulse distortion due to self-phase modulation.
