Conservative nonlinear interaction of light and a Bose-Einstein condensate in a lossy optical cavity

Abstract

We consider a Bose-Einstein condensate in an optical cavity being driven by an external laser beam. The modulated optical lattice induces conservative chaotic oscillations that are ubiquitous for pump rates that exceed a critical value.
