Abstract

The impact of Er-SiO2 and Er-Al2O3 nanoparticles doping on the radiation induced defects is investigated in germano-silica optical fibers with Al/Ge ratio ranging over 0.1-150. Even with a high amount of Ge, Er-SiO2-nanoparticles derived-optical fibers exhibit lower RIA than those with a low Ge content un-doped or doped with Er-Al2O3 nanoparticles. Furthermore, the behavior of point defects is studied by EPR and absorption spectroscopy according to the Al/Ge.
