Broadband mode-group mixing via spatial phase masks printed on fiber facet

Abstract

We introduce a novel, low loss and compact mode scrambler, printed directly on fiber-tip. The device is optimized to achieve a desired inter-mode-group mixing level at minimum loss for achieving strong mixing in FMF links.
