Mode Scrambler for Multimode Fiber Transmission with Reduced Computational Complexity

Abstract

Strong mode coupling in multimode fiber transmission is beneficial for both differential group delay reduction and mode-dependent loss (MDL) mitigation. We demonstrate a mode scrambler for 6 spatial modes and present full characterization results.
