Abstract

We review the recent advances concerning the development of radiation tolerant fiber-based optical amplifiers for space applications. Particularly, the combined effects of radiation and temperature on the EDFA or EYDFA performances are discussed highlighting that their radiation vulnerabilities can strongly depend on their profiles of use.
