Abstract

Self-filtering characteristics of concatenated erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is important in long haul link system or wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) system which uses EDFAs. Based on numerical computations we predicted the dependence of self-filtering wavelenghts on parameters of the erbium-doped fiber (EDF) such as fiber composition or gain saturation. Experimental measurement confirmed the validity of our model.
