Transmission experiments with high speed preamplified direct detection receiver

Abstract

A SOA preamplifier receiver is used for transmission over 184 km at 5 Gbit/s and 50 km at 10 Gbit/s. An EDFA preamplifier is used for 234 km transmission at 5 Gbit/s.
