Application of LD-Pumped Pr-doped Fluoride Fiber Amplifier to Digital and Analog Signal Transmission

Abstract

We have applied a laser diode(LD)- pumped Pr-doped fluoride fiber amplifier as a booster amplifier both to a digital and to an analog signal transmission in a 1.3 μ m system. We obtained total system power margins of 51.2dB in the digital system and more than 15dB in the analog system.
