Influence of SB S suppression on distortion in an optically amplified analog video transport system

Abstract

Optical nonlinearity combined with chromatic dispersion in fiber may generate intermodulation distortion in analog CATV systems [l,2]. In supertrunking applications where long distances (> 100 km) are covered, high-power erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) may be deployed. In this application, the above mentioned distortions may significantly impair the video signal quality.
