Tunable and High Bit Rate Erbium-Doped Fiber Ring Soliton Source

We demonstrate a tunable Eibium doped fiber ring laser in which an intra-cavity 1×2 electro-optic modulator acts as harmonic mode-locker and adjustable output coupler. We generate stable 7 ps soliton laser pulses at 2.4 GHz, tunable between 1530 and 1565 nm. The pulses are very nearly transform limited with an approximately hyperbolic secant shape both in time and frequency.
