Polarization Insensitive Frequency Conversion by Four-Wave Mixing in a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier

Abstract

Polarization insensitive frequency conversion is realized using a Mach-Zehnder type phase modulator in combination with four-wave mixing in an SOA. Additionally, the chirp of the input signal is removed. BER-measurements after transmission over standard fiber are reported.
