Fast Power Equalization for the Photonic Packet Switching using Laser Diode Optical Amplifiers

A new photonic packet receiver which utilizes a laser diode optical amplifier as a packet power equalizer is proposed. This receiver accepts 17-dB power fluctuation at nano-second speed for a 10-Gbit/s Manchester-encoded signal.
