Differential Binary Phase-Shift Keying transmission in a system with in-line semiconductor optical amplifiers

A 10 Gbit/s DBPSK – Direct Detection transmission at 1.3 µm over ~ 500 km has been demonstrated in a re-circulating fiber loop set up. System margins have been determined and limiting effects are discussed.
