Abstract

We demonstrate a stable 3-kHz-linewidth single-mode erbium-doped fiber ring laser with a 40-nm tuning range of 1522 to 1562 nm. The wide tunability is achieved using a highly-stretchable fiber Bragg grating with a tuning range of over 50 nm. This represents a 3.5-fold increase in wavelength tuning range over prior art using FBGs.
