Gain-flattening filters with autonomous temperature stabilization of Erbium gain

Abstract

We demonstrate that a combination of etalons and a long period fiber grating can offset the temperature variation of C-band Erbium gain while it flattens the overall gain spectrum. The gain variation between 0 and 65 oC was 0.25 dB without any external stabilizers.
