Abstract

This work reports a substantial optical gain in Tm doped fiber in the region of 1450-1500 nm, with dual wavelength pumps in 980 nm and 1550 nm ranges. Pump sources employed are semiconductor lasers and all passive components in the amplifier are commonly found in EDFAs.
