Tolerance of RZ-DPSK signal to pattern effects in Raman amplifier with forward pumping

Abstract

Waveform distortion in forward-pumped Raman amplifiers with dynamic pump depletion is numerically studied. The RZ-DPSK format, which shows 17 dB higher tolerance than the NRZ format to the forward Raman gain, provides significant flexibility in system design.
