Transparent Cr4+-doped gehlenite (Ca2Al2SiO7) glass-ceramics for broadband amplifier

Abstract

A novel transparent Cr4+-doped gehlenite (Ca2Al2SiO7) glass-ceramics was developed. Cr4+ ions are selectively incorporated in gehlenite phase, showing a broad-band emission of 1.1~1.4 μm with higher intensity than in the corresponding as-quenched glass.
